AUSTIN, Texas – Austin/Travis County EMS has been flooded with calls for water rescues after overnight storms on Thursday.
Water rescues reported at:
- 400 Whitetail Lane: Person and car in water
- Decker Lane and Nez Perce Trace: Car stuck in high water
- 11900 Hibbs Lane: Person in water
- 17400 Littig Road: People in water
- Spicewood Springs Road: People in water
A driver was rescued from a closed Hutto low water crossing at 9:30 a.m. The vehicle was swept up in high waters on the 400 block of Whitetail Lane.
At 5:15 a.m. ATCEMS tweeted that two to three people are being rescued on the 17400 block of Littig Road, which is a closed low water crossing. One of the victims was hanging onto a tree waiting to be rescued by STAR Flight. The second victim was hoisted in the air by the STAR Flight helicopter.
A car was also stuck in high water at Decker Lane and Nez Perce Trace. Three people were inside the vehicle, but were rescued by another nearby driver.
An Austin fire boat was called to 11900 Hibbs Lane with a person in the water clinging to a large tree. The person was rescued and is being evaluated by ATCEMS.
One woman was rescued around 1 a.m. after her truck was washed off a Spicewood Springs Road and into a creek.
Another water rescue was reported on Spicewood Springs Road. The driver was able to make it safely to the creek shoreline after their vehicle was also washed away.
