AUSTIN, Texas – A commuter plane landed safely at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport after severe turbulence, according to the Austin Fire Department.

The plane had 73 passengers and six crew members.

After landing, the plane taxied to the gate and three patients were evaluated for their injuries, according to Austin/Travis County EMS. Two people were transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries and one person refused treatment.

An airport spokesperson told us the flight was an American Airlines plane that originated from San Luis Potosí in Mexico and was on its way to Dallas, but was diverted to Austin because of turbulence.
