TEXAS – If you're up for a stellar treat this weekend, we've got a double-whammy to look at and the forecast looks cold but clear.

In addition to the annual peak of the Geminid meteor shower, which officially happens on Friday, a little green comet named 46P/Wirtanen will make a close encounter this weekend and you might be able to see both with a naked eye.

The key?  You've got to get away from the city to avoid light pollution.

Skygazers say the Hill Country makes a great spot.  No matter where you're heading, make sure to bundle up and take plenty of warmth.  Hot chocolate and a sleeping bag sound nice!

Or you might opt to make it a social event.

Friday night, the LCRA will host a star party at McKinney Roughs park in Cedar Creek.  That's out near Lost Pines in Bastrop County.
