AUSTIN, Texas — Homeless artists showcased their talent and creations in Downtown Austin Saturday.

  • Artists spent all year preparing
  • The event began 26 years ago
  • 95 percent of the sales go to the artists

It was part of the annual Art From the Streets show. The event began 26 years ago.

Homeless and formerly homeless artists spent all year creating their unique pieces.

95 percent of the sales go directly to the artists.

"They come here and they are able to showcase their work and be able to talk to people about what they do and their inspiration and it's important to them to be able to have that conversation with the public," said Kelley Worden, the executive director of Art From the Streets.

The event continues Sunday from 11 to 5 p.m. at the Austin Convention Center.
