SAN MARCOS, Texas —San Marcos police were searching for an elderly woman last seen Tuesday morning following her son as they drove near downtown.

  • Daughter-in-law posted to Facebook about finding

The woman's daughter-in-law posted to Facebook Wednesday morning saying the Austin Police Department found her in North Austin. A business called the police in regard to the silver alert.

“Thanks to this and the observation of a citizen in Austin, our partners at the Austin Police Department have located Ms. Etheredge safe and sound,” said Chief of Police Chase Stapp. “We appreciate their assistance in returning her to her loved ones.”

Sandra Etheredge, 76, was last seen on Cheatham Street at the intersection of S. LBJ Drive at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 27. She was following her son and got separated by a train. When the train cleared the crossing, her son was unable to find her.

Etheredge is diagnosed with dementia. She was last seen driving a silver 2003 Ford Escape four-door passenger car with Texas license plate number AJ24199.
