DEL RIO, Texas – One pilot is dead and another is hurt after a plane crash at the Laughlin Air Force Base on Tuesday.
An Air Force T-38C Talon, which is a trainer that carries two pilots, crashed at the base, which is located in Del Rio.
The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Capt. John F. Graziano. He was an instructor pilot with the 87th Flying Training Squadron at Laughlin AFB.
Capt. Mark S. Palyok, an instructor pilot, was also injured during the incident. He was transported to Val Verde Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injuries and released.
“Knowing how everyone is effected by this tragedy, my immediate concern is making sure that every member of our Laughlin family is okay,” Col. Lee Gentile, 47th Flying Training Wing commander said. “Together, we are Laughlin and now is the time that we stand together to take care of one another.”
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
The base is approximately 150 miles west of San Antonio.
