AUSTIN, Texas – Austin City Council is considering a budget of more than $100,000 a year to clean one downtown toilet.

Council members will debate Thursday how much money should be spent to remove waste from a city-owned portable toilet.

The portable toilet is open 24/7 to downtown pedestrians until a permanent structure can be constructed.

The budget allocates a total of $775,000 over five years in a contract with Blue Chem, Inc. The current contract expires on Jan. 29, 2019.
