AUSTIN, Texas — One man has been detained after a SWAT situation in southwest Austin.
According to Austin police, at 2:38 a.m., someone called 911 saying a friend's social media posts were disturbing and asking for help.
A patrol officer went to check on the man at a residence near the 7600 block of Brodie Lane. Police say, he refused to come out and said he had a gun a and would shoot anyone on the property. At that time SWAT was called.
At 3:48 a.m., the man fired shots from a handgun. Ten minutes later, he fired more shots from a shotgun.
When SWAT arrived they were able to evacuate neighbors and set a containment around the home.
Around 6:30 a.m., SWAT was able to force him out into the back yard using tear gas. EMS took him to the hospital to be evaluated.
Criminal charges pending assault on a public servant for the shots fired.
