SAN MARCOS – As the relentless rainfall continues to sweep across Central Texas, the drought rules are being reduced in San Marcos.

Water restrictions have been condensed to Stage 1 thanks to the rainfall. The new restriction will take effect on Sept. 16 at noon.

The rules restrict the use of sprinklers to one day per week on a day designated based on residents’ addresses. Hose-end sprinklers will be allowed for irrigation on the designated day before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m.

Hand watering, soaker hoses and drip irrigation are allowed on any day of the week at any time.

The rules do limit at-home car washing to one day per week.

Wasting water is still prohibited in the City of San Marcos.
