AUSTIN, Texas – A photo of scorpion mother carrying her numerous babies on her back in Austin has gone viral.

Texas Parks and Wildlife shared the photo along with some information about scorpions.

As the summer heats up in Texas, like humans, scorpions look for cool places to stay. They are mostly found under rocks, logs, stones, hiding in wood piles or even inside homes.

“There have been a lot of calls coming into the office recently from residents of San Antonio and from surrounding counties about scorpions,” said Molly Keck, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service entomologist, Bexar County.
