AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department has identified the armed woman who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in southwest Austin.
The deceased is Leslie Yolanda Salazar, a Hispanic female, age 20.

Police said the investigation is ongoing on the shooting that occurred on Thursday, June 7, in the 7300 block of South Glenn Street around 2:23 a.m.
The officer involved is Ofc. Thomas Brown. He has been with the department 3 years and currently assigned to Central East/South Central Patrol.
The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
According to APD, the case will be administratively investigated by APD’s Internal Affairs Unit and monitored by the Office of the Police Monitor. A concurrent investigation will be conducted by APD’s Special Investigation Unit, in conjunction with the Travis County District Attorney’s Office.
