AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police have released the identification of a body that was found in Barton Creek on Sunday, May 18, ruling that the cause of death was the result of drowning.

The victim has has been identified as Israel Olayemi, a black male, age 26.

Police said the death is not considered suspicious, and the investigation determined that Olayemi had drowned the day before his body was found.

Olayem's body was found submerged in Barton Creek last Sunday, May 13, near Twin Falls in south Austin. First responders got the call around 10:30 a.m.
