NATIONWIDE — It’s probably coincidence that National Unicorn and National Gin and Tonic Day fall on the same day, but hooray for happenstance because there’s a way to celebrate both in one fell swoop.
Gin maker Marks & Spencer has joined forces with a Scottish distillery, The Old Curiosity, to bring two new flavored gins to shelves in the U.K.
But the fun doesn’t stop there, oh no. In addition to bringing a hint of flavor, the Juniper berry-based beverage changes color when tonic is added to them.
A spirit fit for the most mystical and magical unicorn fans.
There are two flavors — British Rose, British Lavender. The pale gold rose gin turns a bright shade of pink and the lavender turns from purple to pink, too.
The Bad News
It's not available in the United States. Unless your friend in England ships you back a bottle which is against the law and we'd neverrrrrr suggest that.
The Good News
You can get a different color-changing gin called Empress 1908, which is made by Canadian distillery Victoria Distillers. It's available in both Canada and the United States. How did we not know about this? It’s a bright indigo in the bottle — a color it gets from the use of butterfly pea blossoms and turns a rich pink when you add tonic or lemon juice.
Toss some edible glitter in there, and you've got a unicorn in a glass, my friends.
