AUSTIN, Texas — Over the weekend, a University of Texas at Austin student fell from a four-story balcony in West Campus, dying shortly after.
According to Austin police, the incident on Saturday, which is being investigated as an accident, occurred at the six-floored Texan Tower, located at 2505 San Gabriel St.
Lawrence Ray Emanuel III, a senior in the College of Education, fell from the balcony just before 10:12 p.m. and was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died.
Police are investigating the incident at as an accidental death.
At this time, it is not known if alcohol was a factor.
“The loss of Lawrence is devastating to our entire university. We express our deepest sympathies to his family and friends,” UTPD wrote.
Emanuel was pronounced dead at 1:16 a.m. Sunday. The Austin Police Department is continuing its investigation.
