AUSTIN, Texas — School officials from multiple Central Texas-area schools participated in walkouts on Wednesday in solidarity with students in Florida demanding stricter gun laws.

The intial walkout happened at Clint Small Jr. Middle School during lunch hour went on for hours after.

Dripping Springs ISD officials also confirmed that around noon, 150-200 students walked out of Dripping Springs High School to the school's flagpole. In addition, approximately 150 students from two middle schools combined — Dripping Springs Middle, Sycamore Middle — walked out at the noon hour.

Another 10-15 students from Austin High School participated as well, the Austin school district said. 

Lastly, around 30 kids from Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park  walked out during their noon-hour advisory period.

This walkout comes ahead of a national call for walkouts on change.org for the one-month anniversary of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting on March 14, and the 19-year anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting on April 20.
