CANYON LAKE, Texas — Comal County investigators are looking into a murder at a Canyon Lake home.
Sheriff's Deputies found a man's body during a wellness check Monday morning.
They haven't released his name yet, but neighbors knew him as “Tugboat."
"Kind of scary, because I have a daughter," said neighbor Daniele Almmers. "If this could happen here on this street, it could happen anywhere."
Neighbor Robert McDaniel said he heard the gunshots.
“Yes, I did. Like a full clip,"McDaniel said. "I mean, it sounded like war down there. Yeah. It was pretty loud. Scared me enough to make me want to go inside and lock the door."
McDaniel says he and Tugboat were not close but were neighborly, and said Tugboat repaired jet ski's for local lake-goers, and rode a motorcycle.
"On his way home he'd normally rev his bike, so that was kind of loud. In the middle of the night, by the stop sign," McDaniel said.
He said he can't imagine why someone would target his neighbor.
"Kind of makes me wonder who he'd have company with. Yeah, that's kind of weird happening in this neighborhood," McDaniel said.
Police are offering a $5,000 reward to anyone with information about the homicide. To qualify for the reward you can contact the Comal County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations at 830-643-6699 or Comal County Crime Stoppers at 830-620-8477.
