GENESEO, N.Y. -- An investigation is underway after a man died while awaiting arraignment at the Livingston County Jail.
Deputies say the unnamed person was arrested Friday morning on charges of driving while ability impaired by a drug and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.
The man was being held in a cell until he could be arraigned later in the morning. Deputies discovered him unresponsive and not breathing.
Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
Officials say foul play is not suspected.
The New York State Commission of Corrections was notified and will conduct an investigation, as is policy.
