SAN ANTONIO — A woman referred to as the 'killer nurse' is now facing another murder charge.

Genene Jones is charged with killing a 3-month-old baby while she was working at a San Antonio hospital in the 1980s.

"I literally have worked the last 25 years to have this happen," said Petti McClellan.

Her daughter was killed more than two decades ago by a nurse.

McClellan was emotional as officials announced another indictment against the woman convicted of killing her daughter. The former San Antonio nurse was sentenced to 99 years for that crime, but a law in effect at the time allows Jones to be set free in March of 2018.

"I got some justice for Chelsea. The babies here got nothing," said McClelland.

Jones is suspected of killing dozens of babies with drug injections. McClelland has made it her mission to make sure Jones never walks free. The new indictment means Jones may stay in jail.

"It has nothing to do with not being able to accept what happened to Chelsea. It has nothing to do with revenge. It has nothing to do with not being able to let go. It has to do with what's right and what's wrong," said McClelland.

It's the same mission shared by Bexar County District Attorney Nico LaHood, who charged Jones in the murder of 3-month-old-Paul Villarreal who died in 1981 under Jones' watch. It's now the fifth new murder charge against the former pediatric nurse.

"Life is cherished in this office. It's just that simple. Life is cherished in Texas. That's why we take it serious…people should be held accountable for their actions. We intend for her to be," said LaHood.

"These are San Antonio babies and these babies all deserve the same kind of justice," said McClelland.

Jones is expected to be extradited to the Bexar County jail as early as the end of this year to await the pending murder trials.
