AUSTIN, Texas - The U.S. Marshals Service on Friday announced a man wanted in connection to a homicide that took place last weekend in Austin has been captured.

Members of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force took 34-year-old Ricardo Santos into custody Thursday night in Big Wells, Texas, which is located 100 miles southwest of San Antonio, near the Mexico border.

Santos is wanted in connection to a homicide that took place near the 500 block of East Stassney Lane in Austin. Authorities believe Santos assaulted the victim, identified as Fabian Michael Gutierrez. Gutierrez later died.

Surveillance photos from a convenience store showed Santos entering a white SUV, and task force members quickly tracked him to a Big Wells home where he was taken into custody without incident.

Santos will be extradited back to Travis County. His bail is set at $1 million.
