BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- Broome County is seeking proposals to bring a community-based detox and treatment center to Broome Developmental Center on Glenwood Road.
New York State's Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services will initially make funding available for 50 inpatient and residential beds with the option of eventually expanding to 100.
"You're going to see fewer people in jail, fewer people on social services. We're going to get people on the right track, back to work. Those are all really, really great things that I think a treatment center coming in will provide," said County Executive Jason Garnar, D-Broome County.
According to Garnar, recovery support, family treatment, and clinical services would be offered around the clock.
