CHARLOTTE -- Police in Charlotte are investigating two shooting deaths.
The first shooting was reported around 7:20 p.m. Thursday on Pleasant Dale Drive.
Wallace said officers found 25-year-old Jamario Lacatria McNeely dead.
A man at the scene who talked with officers has now been charged with murder. He is 29-year-old George Fernandez.
A second shooting, believed to be connected to a carjacking, was then reported around 2 a.m. Friday.
Officers found a man and woman shot in the 2300 block of Ginger Lane at the Meadowbrook apartment complex.
The man, 23-year-old Joshua Duckworth, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening. Her name has not been released.
Officers say the couple was visiting people who lived at the complex.
Police spent hours at this scene before they received a call from a concerned resident in a neighborhood less than two miles away about a suspicious car.
When detectives arrived to that second scene, they realized the suspicious car was Duckworth's blue sedan and they immediately began a K9 search for any trace of the suspects. However, no one was located.
Surveillance video from the apartment complex and homes in the neighborhood where the car was found will be reviewed as part of the investigation.
Duckworth’s death brings the number of homicides in Charlotte since the beginning of the year to 57.
