SEGUIN, Texas -- There was not one, but two suspicious overnight fires in Seguin -- one of them at the high school.

Just after midnight on Thursday, the old science building at Seguin High School went up in flames.

"There must have been five or six fire trucks. My whole street was lined up with them. But they got busy, and I think they got it out pretty quick," said neighbor Lili Schmidt.

The building has been sitting unused for years and was set to be demolished next week.

Fire Marshal Greg Dreiss said the fire is considered suspicious.

"There was no power to the building, no gas to the building, there was nobody that had been actively working inside the building with any kind of spark-making material at the time," said Dreiss.

Just about three miles down the road, at West New Braunfels Street and 6th Street, investigators are looking into a second fire that occurred at a warehouse, to see if there is a link between the two.

Dreiss says in his experience, it's common for fires in close proximity to be related.
