After Thursday's lengthy closing arguments, jurors spent all day deliberating in Warren County but could not reach a verdict in the Alexander West trial.

Four separate times, jurors requested read-backs of several of West's charges, as well as the legal definition of the word "reckless." The third and final time, midway through the afternoon, they asked to re-watch the surveillance video of the crash.

As that was being played, Eric McCue, the father of Charlotte McCue, covered his eyes to avoid seeing the crash that claimed his daughter's life.

Jurors also asked what would happen if they reached a unanimous verdict on all but one of the counts. Judge John Hall told them a unanimous verdict must be reached on all counts.

After that, the group went back into the jury room for more deliberations that lasted several hours.

Directly before being sent home for the weekend, jurors asked for one last read-back: requesting to re-hear testimony from two witnesses who were with West at Log Bay Day and also at dinner after. Because the request came late in the day, the testimony will not be read back to them until Monday morning

In news indirectly related to this trial, we learned that Saratoga Springs Police arrested Matt Marry and Christine Tiger for two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Marry and West were both passengers on West's boat during the deadly crash and were arrested for obstructing the police investigation. Neither testified during West's trial.

After executing a search warrant for alleged narcotics activity at a home on Crescent Street, police say the pair was found in possession of heroin, concentrated cannabis and suboxone.
