Reena Diamante joined Spectrum News in March 2016 as the Hays County bureau reporter. Here’s your chance to learn a little more about her.

Before moving down South, Reena spent almost four years at sister-station NY1 News in New York City profiling New Yorkers and covering breaking news across the five boroughs.

Here are some things you might not know about Reena:

  1. Reena was born in Davao City, Philippines and immigrated to The Bronx as a toddler. 
  2. Her favorite mode of transportation is a bicycle. She finished the 40-mile "Five Boro Bike Tour," twice. 
  3. Reena has volunteered to work during New Year’s Eve and rang in the New Year three times in Times Square.
  4. She watched Derek Jeter reach 3,000 hits at Yankee Stadium. 
  5. An avid tennis fan, Reena has attended two out of the four Grand Slam tournaments and wants to visit the rest and all the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 events, too.
  6. Even though she now lives in Texas, Reena doesn’t eat meat. Feel free to send her restaurants where she can eat vegan barbecue. 
  7. Reena’s Instagram account has lots of pictures of her jumping. There’s even a hashtag: #reenajumps. 
  8. While she has a degree in political science, Reena enjoys science fiction. 
  9. She loves puns and telling jokes.
  10. In particular, Reena thinks elevator jokes are the best. Why? Because they work on so many levels.
