AMARILLO, Texas — Wildfires burned over night in the Texas panhandle, forcing people from their homes.

The wildfire near Amarillo is now 50 percent contained, burning 25,000 acres.

That fire threatens about 150 homes.

A second wildfire in Ochiltree and Lipscomb counties has grown to about 40,000 acres, and is 5 percent contained.

Gov. Greg Abbott is sending state resources to first responders.
