FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- The 10th Mountain Division will soon have a new commander, but Major General Walter Piatt won't be new to Fort Drum.
Piatt will replace outgoing commander Major General Jeffrey Bannister in late April.
Piatt is a former deputy commander of the 10th Mountain. He's currently in Washington, serving as the director of operations of rapid equipment fielding at the Army's Rapid Capabilities Office.
General Bannister is expected to take a senior position within the Pentagon.
