San Antonio residents at Haven for Hope celebrated an important and personal milestone this holiday.

On Monday evening, more than 55 men and women were honored for successfully accomplishing months of sober living.

Volunteers with Pay it Forward provided residents with a warm meal and holiday gifts.

The men and women united to share their challenges and journey to recovery.

"Some of these people have been either chronically homeless or separated from their families for a long time. So, they’ve chosen to come here, and continue working on their lives so that they can have that later," said Next Right Step Program Manager David Cordrey.

Since 2009, the Next Right Step program has helped thousands of individuals recover, and rebuild their lives.
