AUSTIN, Texas -- The presidential race is getting tighter in Texas, and Hillary Clinton is taking advantage.

The Democratic presidential candidate opened a campaign headquarters in Austin on Sunday.

The office is located at North I-35 and Holly Street, and will be home to volunteers and organizers helping with phone banks and meetings.

To kick off the opening, the Travis County Democratic party hosted a public picnic.

Hillary supporters say the new headquarters means a lot for Texas Democrats since donations for the state's democratic party are realatively rare.

One supporter says they've been working to recruit more voters for Hillary over the past two years.

"Austin's supposedly this blueberry in this big tomato soup," said Margie Medrano. "But we know... there's blueberries all over this state, and so we're trying to mobilize those people."

Last week the Democrats opened an office in Houston and another Saturday in San Antonio.

The San Antonio campaign office will be the hub for the push to elect Clinton and other Democrats on the Texas ballot in November.

Organizers there will put volunteers to work at phone banks and canvassing neighborhoods.

Democrats expect to hold events at the Alamo City office as we get closer to the general election.
