SCHENECTADY, N.Y. -- Spend a few minutes inside the Schenectady Van Curler Music Store and it's easy to feel like you're a part of something bigger than yourself.

"I would like to think so because we do touch a lot of people," owner Rhoda Luborsky said.

For Rhoda and Florence Luborksy, a 32-year legacy will come to an end.

"I don't know how to describe it, really," Rhoda said. "I'm trying not to think about it."

After a willful fight against online competition, the mother and daughter team will close the doors, leaving a vacancy inside of Proctors and in the hearts of the community.

"I've never had something like this happen in my lifetime, where you see something that's been so important to you and it's vanishing," former employee Matthew Eisenhower said.

"As much as we all enjoy and love the internet, it's not the same, it's not the same," piano teacher Gail Palmer said.

Although saying goodbye may feel like a loss, much was gained with the love of music.

"The market has changed and it's time for us now just to close the doors, be happy about what we've done and the friends we've made," Florence said.
