SAN ANTONIO—For the first time in 27 years, San Antonio’s skyline is set to change.

Construction on the new Frost Tower is expected to be wrapped-up in 2018.

New renderings show what the complete project will look like in downtown, and at 400 feet, it might be a sight to see, but that doesn’t mean it sits well with everyone.

"I'm thinking it's not a good idea because it's going to cover the view and the fresh air,” said downtown resident Ingrid Morales.

Looks aside, supporters say the tower will help the city reach new heights.

"Any kind of development in our downtown is essential. We're one of the major cities in the nation and you look at our downtown in comparison to other downtowns and we have three main streets if that so the development, in my opinion is a good thing,” said San Antonio resident Eric Gomez.

Office space will take up 400,000 sq. ft. while 20,000 will be retail on the ground level. When it's all said and done if all goes according to plan, you won't just see a tower on a piece of land. The San Pedro Creek improvements project will help beautify the entire surrounding area.

"I hope to see more green, trees, and parks than anything else,” Morales said.

The creek project will revitalize natural habitat and water quality, and will include 4 miles of trails and 11 acres of landscaped area.

"When you look around downtown you see some things, but when you start to move off to that region of downtown, there's not really much going on so of adding another business will of course bring more people there,” Gomez said.

Work on San Pedro Creek will start this fall. On Wednesday, the public is invited to attend the city's Historic and Design Review Commission meeting at 3 p.m.
