CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Camp Corral and former NBA and UNC star Antawn Jamison have teamed up to make dreams come true for a special group of young people.
Camp Corral is in its fifth year and has given 3,400 children from across the U.S. a chance to meet other children just like them.
Those who attend are military children who have a parent that's either a wounded, disabled or fallen veteran.
This year, Jamison opened up his basketball camp in Chapel Hill to about 30 kids from Camp Corral.
“Camp Corral gives them an opportunity to come together with kids who are like them and share those experiences,” said Mary Beth Hernandez with Camp Corral.
“By paying attention, listen to detail you can apply those things to the classroom... be an artist or whatever your passion is but while you are here enjoy ourselves for and have a good time,” said Jamison
Jamison’s partnership with Camp Corral is another effort of his “A Better Tomorrow” charitable initiative which started in 2002.
