CANASTOTA, N.Y. -- Crews in Canastota are hard at work repairing the damage from Wednesday’s storm.
"What happened was the tree that has fallen behind us, it caught the main cable coming from the pole to the house, and it just bends it right over,” said Jo Jo Electric Owner Joseph Cesario.
Electricians say trees down like this one on Canal Street can be dangerous.
With several fallen in the area, it’s been busy.
“The phones started ringing after the wind started picking up, and I’ve been getting a lot of calls,” said Cesario.
Over on Kyser Beach Road, Nick Menec says some of his neighbors saw roof damage.
"The wind was crazy. It was going one direction, then all of a sudden it changed and went the other direction. All my lawn furniture was blowing around. Chairs from my neighbor's yard [were] coming over," said Nick Menec.
Luckily, he says the community has pulled together to give each other a hand.
"We were worried about generators, electricity, so we were all going to share our generators to keep our freezers cold … We all get together to help each other out," said Menec.
