KYLE--Candidates for Kyle City Council are hitting the campaign trail. Two candidates are running for the Place 3 seat, Randall Lloyd and Shane Arabie. The incumbent councilwoman Diane Herval and local business owner Travis Mitchell are running for Place 1.

Place 3 candidate Randall Loyd says he's new politics, but as a bartender, he's used to listening to people.

"To be flat out honest, I think the city council has ended up being a good ol' boys network, and I think we need to get back to focusing on getting back to taking care of the citizens, the taxpayers that are here," said Lloyd.

Though his opponent might lack experience, Place 3 incumbent Shane Arabie says, the election isn't in the bag.

"My message mostly is look at my record and see what I've done. You know, mine's very simple. It's that my basis is infrastructure, you know it's what we base our city off of and how we build,” said Arabie.

Local business owner Travis Mitchell wants to use his skills to serve the city in Place 1.

"Kyle currently has no business owners on council. No small business owners or large business owners. No one that works for a Kyle-based company. And I think that that's a bit of a problem,” said Mitchell.

Incumbent Diane Hervol says her time on the Kyle City Council and the planning and zoning commission gives her an edge.

"I moved to Kyle in 2002, and ever since I stepped foot on the soil here in Kyle I have been involved in one way or another,” she said.
