Max Gorden joined the Time Warner Cable News in 2016 and serves as our Hays County Bureau Chief.
Originally from Northern California, Max attended New York University, double-majoring in English and broadcast journalism.
He has a passion for telling the stories that matter to Central Texans.
When Max isn't reporting, he enjoys getting outside, listening to live music, and eating all the delicious food Texas has to offer.
Here are some things you might not know about Max:
- Max grew up on a small apple farm in Northern California. His favorite apple is the Gravenstein, a regional variety grown only in the region!
- Before learning how to drive a car, Max's dad taught him how to drive stick shift on the family tractor.
- He was an avid surfer during high school, surfing up and down the California coast with his buddies.
- Max first got into journalism after starting his high school's newspaper, "The Tiger Times."
- He worked as a volunteer firefighter in California and as a volunteer EMT in New Jersey, following in the footsteps of his parents who were both career firefighters.
- Max rowed crew at NYU, winning silver in the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships.
- His favorite pizza topping is chicken and tomatoes.
- Max's reporting has taken him all over the world -- from Ghana, to Israel, to the United Arab Emirates.
- He is notoriously bad at taking care of houseplants.
- Max loves going to baseball games, and is over halfway toward his goal of attending a game at every MLB ballpark.
