GREENSBORO -- The Yadkin Riverkeeper is teaming up with Google to map access points and spots of interest along the water.

Google loaned the riverkeeper a camera which takes pictures from every angle, as the kayak travels downstream.

Greensboro-based "Get Outdoors" donated the boat, while maker-space "The Forge" modified a bike rack to mount the camera to it.

Ultimately the images captured will be integrated into Google Earth and Google Maps.

"We're really excited because we see this as a way to have more people see the river and be aware of what's going on there, that it's a great place to go fishing, swimming, boating, and that we have these organizations from Greensboro helping us out so that the whole Triad can get involved and get on the river," said Will Scott, Yadkin Riverkeeper.

The project should be completed and online by mid-April.
