A statewide law enforcement group has thrown its support behind one of the candidates for Travis County Sheriff.

Right now, Todd Radford is the Lakeway Chief of Police.

Wednesday the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas (CLEAT) endorsed his bid for Travis County Sheriff.

Current Sheriff Greg Hamilton is not seeking a fourth term.

Five candidates, four Democrats and one uncontested Republican, are out to replace him.

CLEAT says Radford's education, experience and skills make him the best candidate for the job.

”I'm the only candidate with firsthand experience at putting body cameras on officers.  I did that four years ago before anybody else in Central Texas did that.  And, I plan to do that as the Sheriff of Travis County," said Travis County Sheriff candidate Todd Radford.

Radford is one of the four Democrats facing-off in the primary race.

He has also been endorsed by the Travis County Sheriff's Officers Association.
