Christmas Mass is a form of reflection and healing for inmates.
Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller shared a message of hope at the Bexar County Adult Detention Center.
Dozens of inmates came to worship.
Serving time in prison is especially difficult for many during the holidays, and for some it is the lowest point in their lives.
Visiting jails is a long time tradition in the Catholic Church, and the archbishop says the goal is for inmates to understand that there is more to their lives.
"One thing that they really long for is for their stories to be told, and for us to listen to those stories and to have compassion," said Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. After mass, the Archbishop greeted the inmates and prayed with them.
The Bexar County Adult Detention Center has frequent worship services for different religions.
