AUSTIN, Texas -- Target is getting ready for another round of store closures starting early next year.
The retailer will close the SuperTarget located location in Northeast Austin near Parmer Lane, The Austin Business Journal reported.
This is one of 13 stores that will close nationwide at the end of January.
Target has already closed 11 stores this year.
The retailer has been reducing its total square footage, while increasing spending on technology and online shopping.
"The decision to close a Target store is not made lightly," Target spokesperson Kristy Welker said. "We typically decide to close a store after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location. Typically, the decision to close a store is as a result of seeing several years of decreasing profitability."
The company says eligible employees will be offered transfers.
