Police have identified the person who was found dead in Lady Bird Lake on Sunday as a 23-year-old University of Texas student.

EMS crews pulled his body from the water near Stratford Drive Sunday morning.

The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the body that was recovered from Lady Bird Lake as Santiago Gonzalez-Becerra, a graduate student in the Accounting-Professional Program at the McCombs School of Business. 

Gonzalez-Becerra’s sister reported him missing on Nov. 26 to the University of Texas Police Department.

The Medical Examiner’s office reported no suspicious trauma to the body. The cause of death has not yet been determined.

UT Police Chief David Carter says the university is providing counselors and other resources to help those students mourning Gonzalez-Becerra's death.

UTPD is working closely with Austin Police Department on the investigation of his death.
