State Senator Ruben Diaz Sr. says he has invited a group of Republican presidential candidates to tour the South Bronx, and notes the only one who has gotten back to him so far is Donald Trump.
Diaz says he wants to give Republican candidates the opportunity to reach out to the Hispanic community.
He says Republicans generally assume Hispanics will vote Democrat - so they don't make the effort to campaign in their areas.
Diaz says he's also extended his offer to Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, but has not heard back.
He says Donald Trump personally called him to say he wants to visit the Bronx.
Trump's currently leading the GOP polls.
Comments Trump made regarding Mexicans back in June caused a backlash from the Hispanic community.
