AUSTIN, Texas (AP) – A female inmate in the Travis County Correctional Complex has died after being found unresponsive in the shower.
Investigators on Tuesday announced the death of 40-year-old Athena Covarrubias. Autopsy results are pending, but investigators found no evidence of foul play.
No cause of death was immediately released for Covarrubias, who was discovered unresponsive Monday morning.
Austin police arrested the woman on Aug. 5 for three warrants out of Williamson County related to possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and driving with an invalid license. Covarrubias also faced one new count of possession of a controlled substance.
Further details on the death weren't immediately released.
