1. Winter storm warning in place as Texas braces for snow & ice

Cold temperatures continue to hold us and ample moisture is pulling in from the south just as a massive storm system swings in Thursday.  The northern half of the Lone Star state will be a wintry wonderland by nightfall. 

By Thursday evening all modes of winter weather are possible including snow, ice, sleet and heavy rain. A single degree makes all the difference to determine what form of precipitation hits the ground.

2. Despite weather threat, Cotton Bowl to go on ‘as scheduled’

Despite concerns of dangerous roadways amid another winter storm, Cotton Bowl officials say the game “will kick off on Friday evening as scheduled.” The Cotton Bowl released a statement late Tuesday evening on its social media accounts saying, “North Texas highways are already being brined and plans are in place to assure a safe environment for everyone in and around AT&T Stadium on game day.”

3. Thousands flee as wildfires burn out of control and destroy homes across the Los Angeles area

Multiple massive wildfires tore across the Los Angeles area with devastating force early Wednesday as residents made a desperate escape from burning homes through flames, ferocious winds and towering clouds of smoke.

4. ByteDance’s Lemon8 gains traction amid TikTok ban threat as creators push the app

Hearing a lot about Lemon8 lately? You’re not the only one.

Amid a looming U.S. ban on TikTok, content creators have been pushing the platform's sister app. Lemon8 resembles an amalgamation of the types of short-form videos found on TikTok and the picture-perfect aesthetic of Instagram and Pinterest

Whataburger brings back discontinued menu items to celebrate 75th anniversary

Beloved Texas burger chain Whataburger is ringing in the new year by bringing back some classic menu items and debuting new ones to celebrate 75 years in business.

Making a comeback this year are the Monterey Melt and the Chicken Fajita Taco. Two new items that honor the chain’s Tex-Mex flavors are also making an entrance this year: the Mexican Hot Chocolate Coffee and the Mexican Hot Chocolate Shake.
