IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. -- The long vacant Medley Centre in Irondequoit is finally on the verge of transformation

Plans have been in the works since a local developer Angelo Ingrassia bought the property in January of last year.

An announcement on his plans is expected to come next week.

Irondequoit Town Supervisor Dave Seeley says he believes it's important the new project be thoroughly researched and thought out, to add value to the town.

"It's so crucial to the future of this town really. It's been a blight on all the other positive attributes of Irondequoit," Seeley said. "there's so many good things about this town and it just breaks your heart to see the mall be such a focal point for people who might not live in Irondequoit. So I think that for the people of Irondequoit, they share that optimism, but also that hope that this is successful."

Seeley says the likelihood of the space being redeveloped as another mall is slim.
