Music legends are coming to Austin for the three-day Rancho Alegre Conjunto Festival.

Kicking off on Friday, the festival is focused on Conjunto music, a type of upbeat Mexican music with a polka influence.

Organizer Baldomero Cuellar said they want to educate the public about Conjunto music in hopes of helping it last.

"The main reason I wanted to host the festival was that this music, this traditional music isn't being played a lot anymore by radio stations,” he said. “It's kind of being forgotten."

In addition to the concerts, some of the musicians will be making other appearances around town.

The festival will also feature a Conjunto photo exhibit and a food drive for the Capital Area Food Bank of Texas.
