A class action lawsuit has been filed against Taconic Plastics, the company deemed responsible for PFOA contamination in the Town of Petersburgh.

The lawsuit, filed by Weitz and Luxenberg, claims the company improperly disposed of the chemical in the town for years, leading it to spread into the water supply and surrounding environment. It's alleged that during the manufacturing of some products, the chemical was turned into vapor form, which was released through smoke stacks and carried into the community.

The lawsuit also claims employees also disposed of the chemicals in the facility's sinks and drains and in garbage bags, which were then sent to the Petersburgh landfill. Finally, the lawsuit says that Taconic knew or should have known the damage this would cause the community.

This lawsuit comes after Weitz and Luxenberg filed another class action lawsuit earlier this year in Hoosick Falls against Saint Gobain and Honeywell.
