Columbia, S.C. — The United States Army is expecting to meet its enlistment goals for 2025. This marks a dramatic turnaround for the service since it has been struggling for several years.

A significant driver for the recruiting process was the launch of Fort Jackson's Future Soldier Prep Course back in August of 2022.

The program gives lower-performing recruits up to three months of academic or fitness instruction to help them meet military standards and move on towards basic training.

According to data reports, in the fiscal year that ended in September of 2024, the Army met its recruiting goal of 55,000 and began to rebuild the delayed entry pool. Almost 24% of those recruits came out of the prep course program.
