A powerful storm system is causing severe weather for the eastern half of the nation.

A vigorous low pressure system will drive a cold front into the area Sunday with numerous thunderstorms expected ahead of the front. The greatest threat for severe weather will be during the morning with damaging winds and a few tornadoes.

Things will settle around noon, but a few more storms may fire during the afternoon as the cold front moves through.

Have a way to get weather alerts through Sunday and have your emergency plan ready if warnings are issued.

We will be drier and cooler Monday.
