A bus accident in the City of Watertown Friday afternoon has left one person dead.

Police say the accident involved a woman identified as 35-year-old Stephanie Jenkins of Watertown and an Adirondack Trailways bus that was leaving the station terminal on State Street.

Detectives say Jenkins was trying to board the Trailways bus while it was pulling away. Police say she ran to the passenger side and was knocked down near the State Street terminal.

State Street was shut down from Winthrop Street and William Street.
