Samaritan's Women's Wellness and Breast Care facility is redefining women's health care in the North Country by bringing different health specialties to one location.

"With the working women and the number of moms that we have, it's hard for them to take time off work for multiple appointments," said Kate Simpson, the Nurse Manager of the new facility.

The facility is the first one in the area to add the additional specialists.

"It's a disservice to the women in our community. So this is something that's going to be really nice. They can have everything done in one appointment," says Simpson.

Typically women have to make different appointments with different specialty doctors.  They travel to areas outside of Watertown like Carthage, Syracuse and even further.

Leslie DiStefano, says, “Transportation may be an issue, cost can be an issue, so bringing it closer to home is always important and knowing it's high quality services is really important to us," said Samaritan Medical Center Director of Communications & Public Relations

The renovated 27,000 square foot location will feature an array of different health care options like radiology, breast surgeons, OBGYN, and even a mid-wife.

The new facility was funded through a state grant and now it's changing the footprint for health care up north.
