Watertown councilman Mark Walczyk is swapping one political life for another, and he says issue number one will be the economy.
Walczyk unseated Assemblyman, Addie Jenne with almost 54 percent of the vote.
Jenne has been in office since 2009. Walczyk says he couldn't have pulled off a victory without support from volunteers.
"I'm a true believer that there's absolutely no substitute for hard work,” said Walczyk. “And I had an excellent group of volunteers that surrounded this campaign and got all of the work done every day."
Walczyk wil continue to serve as a Watertown council member until his term begins in January. Then, a replacement will be appointed.
Spectrum News reached out to Jenne but she declined to comment.
